Jay-Bo officially signs with Calgary

The deal: 5 years, $33 million
Once GM Darryl Sutter traded for Bouwmeester’s rights on Saturday, it was just a matter of time before they came to terms. Tonight it’s official, and this signing currently makes the Flames the team to beat in the division. I assume Sutter will try his hardest to keep Jay-Bo and Phaneuf together. This means fellow d-men Robyn Regehr and Cory Sarich could be traded soon.

Jay-Bo has been hidden down in Miami his whole career, and some fans are probably wondering why everyone is making such a fuss about this guy. Well, there is a reason why he was on Team Canada in the ’06 Olympics, and has gone to the All-Star Game multiple times. It’s because he’s THAT good. The 6’4” defenseman is very good with the puck on his stick, has a solid shot from the point, and can put up better offensive numbers with a better team. He's considered one of the best all-around defenseman in the league. Bouwmeester truly has the potential to shine in Calgary!
