Thursday's Links

[The Fourth Period] Coyotes Must Go... A really interesting piece over at TFP by David Bernstein. Phoenix has had attendance struggles since the home opener (which sold out). The recent news of Jerry Moyes selling the team to the NHL means the Coyotes are safe -- for now.

[CNNSI] Strange Tale of the Coyotes... Jon Wertheim has a similar article to Bernstein's... a very interesting article. If it really is as bad as people are saying it is, then why does the NHL keep fighting it?? If there's 10,000 people in the building on a nightly basis, that should be an alarm to the league that hockey can't work in the desert (especially when the team is winning!)

[Yahoo! Puck Daddy] Greg Wyshynski ponders if the lockout changed hockey more than the Miracle on Ice. While I partly agree in that the lockout changed the game more, the 1980 US hockey team's feat was far more important for the game of hockey.

[The Hockey Writers] Why Atlanta should trade Kovalchuk... Brian over at THW has a great breakdown of the Ilya Kovalchuk situation in Atlanta. Should they deal him?? Only on deadline day if the team is out of the playoff picture. They have to get something for him if he opts not to re-sign.

[The Program] These Three Turkeys... The Ducks, Devils, and Wild appear on this week's list. If I could add one to this list, it'd be the Florida Panthers. Tomas Vokoun's GAA is 3.65, and most of the skaters are on the wrong side of the plus/minus rating (by a big margin).

[PredsOnTheGlass] Buddy over at POTG has a good preview for tonight's Predators/Blackhawks game. After last night's win, I think the Preds will get another one tonight. 4-2 is my prediction...

[HockeyBuzz] Eklund throws out another ridiculous rumor of his... this time involving Carey Price. Why in the world would Montreal trade him?? Jaroslav Halak can't survive as a starter, and Price is still the #1 whether he's starting or not. If you ask me, there's a 0% chance Price heads out the door.

[The View from 111] Mark shares his experience of skydiving at Ft. Campbell, KY! It's a good read...
