Monday seems to always be D-Day on the injury front around the league. And today we’ve learned of more key injuries that happened this weekend.
- Alex Ovechkin (week-to-week, upper body strain)
- Eric Staal (‘will miss several games’, upper body)
- Shea Weber (out 1-2 weeks, foot)
- Michael Grabner (out indefinitely, ankle)
When will the injury bug stop biting teams in the rear!? We already have guys like Kovalchuk, Markov, Savard, D. Sedin, and Franzen shelved long-term.
Ovechkin’s injury is now being called 'week-to-week' by the organization. This may not hurt the team as everyone thinks, since they'll be facing some easier opponents over the next couple weeks. Still a major loss, though. It's Semin's time to shine, now...
Weber took a slap shot off his foot in the 2nd period on Saturday, but came back in the 3rd. He’ll be sorely missed on the Preds’ west coast jaunt.
Staal suffered his injury against the Sharks, and I don’t how or when it happened. But if he’s out for more than just a couple weeks, the Canes’ nightmare start could get worse.
Grabner was just coming into his own before hurting his ankle during warm-ups last night. Vancouver can't catch a break on the injury front...
