Team Canada prediction

Here was my first prediction of what Team Canada could look like from the summer.

Now that we’re about a month from the team being officially announced, we take another look at the team’s outlook for Vancouver. December 31st is going to be here before we know it, and that’s when GM Steve Yzerman will announce his roster. Without further ado, here is who I would include on Team Canada this February…

Forwards (13)

Sidney Crosby
Rick Nash
Jarome Iginla
Joe Thornton
Dany Heatley
Ryan Getzlaf
Martin St. Louis
Corey Perry
Mike Richards
Brendan Morrow
Jonathan Toews
Ryan Smyth
Eric Staal

With the line combos looking like this…
Nash/Crosby/Iginla
Heatley/Thornton/St. Louis
Morrow/Getzlaf/Perry
Smyth/Toews/Richards

Defensemen (7)
Chris Pronger
Dan Boyle
Jay Bouwmeester
Duncan Keith
Shea Weber
Mike Green
Scott Niedermayer

Goalies (3)
Marc-Andre Fleury
Roberto Luongo
Martin Brodeur

Notable Omissions:
J. Carter, V. Lecavalier, D. Phaneuf, S. Stamkos, B. Seabrook, C. Ward, S. Gagne, P. Marleau, S. Doan, J. Staal, D. Doughty, B. Richards, J. Tavares

Olympics Outlook:
It was very hard putting this team together; I can't imagine the difficulty Stevie Y is having doing the same thing. So much talent… not enough spots. I feel like this group that I’ve picked out can win it all. Anything less than Gold will be a failure north of the border – especially with the games being held in Vancouver. This will obviously be the most talented team in the Olympics, but chemistry can become an issue when you put together an all-star team like this. I’d be shocked if they didn’t medal…
