If it wasn’t an Olympic year, today would normally be the day that the NHL holds its All-Star Game. Since the lockout, the game has lost its luster. With every game reaching the double-digits in goals, it's a near-laughing stock for the league. Heck, even the skills competition - the event I always enjoyed watching - has become a joke. It’s strictly a fun event for the players and fans involved, and a nice weekend of rest for the ones not invited to the game.
But for argument’s sake, here is who I would put on the All-Star teams if the Winter Games weren’t taking place in a couple weeks. Remember, each team has to have a representative in the game…
Eastern Conference

Martin Brodeur, NJ

Joe Thornton, SJ
Patrick Marleau, SJ
Dany Heatley, SJ
Patrick Kane, CHI
Rick Nash, CBJ
Ryan Getzlaf, ANA
Anze Kopitar, LA
Jarome Iginla, CGY
Brad Richards, DAL

David Perron, STL
Obvious snubs…

There has not been a host city named for next year’s All-Star Game, but there is speculation that Phoenix, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh are in the running.
