Dear Jason Arnott,
It’s me again, ‘Arnie’! You there?! Ok, because I’ve barely noticed you on the ice in this postseason – arguably the most critical in franchise history. You have zero points in these five games (yes, zero) and your line has been rather ineffective when you look at the series as a whole. Just thought you should know that.
Now, I wrote you a letter back in January… and your play since then still hasn’t altered my frustration with you. There’s a ‘C’ on your chest for a reason. You have won the Stanley Cup in your career, and are the experienced leader in the locker room.
I can’t attest to what you say or do off the ice; but on the ice is a different story. I don’t see a captain leading by example. What Pred Nation has seen all year is a player that decides when he wants to give it 100 percent on a game-to-game (maybe even week-to-week) basis. Is that what having the ‘C’ is all about?? Do you feeling like you’re doing your duties correctly as captain?? Because there’s a lot of people who don’t feel like you have earned the right to be captain next season.
The Preds don’t have many forwards that can take over and be dominant for stretches at a time… but you are one of the few. This team has their backs against the wall and is in a must-win scenario tonight against Chicago. This is the time for you to rally the boys and force a decisive Game 7. You need to be ‘Captain Clutch’ that Nashville has seen in the past, but not enough of this year.
From all the Predators fans out there… let’s go!!
Sincerely,
Ryan Porth
