The New York Rangers can only hope the above motto is true when it comes to their captain, Chris Drury.
Earlier today, Chris Drury broke a finger while blocking a shot in a training camp scrimmage. As most Blueshirt and Ranger pundits know, Drury is one of the best shot blockers in the league and surprisingly, does it enough without injuring himself.
Unfortunately, that was not the case today as Jim Cerny, the team's website beat writer, reported that he will miss four weeks. While that's only three regular season games, it could still give one of the many prospects a chance to make some noise.
One player that should get a chance is prospect Derek Stepan. Stepan played extremely well at the Traverse City Prospects tournament; and so far at training camp, is getting glowing reviews according to Jim Cerny's Twitter account:
Gaborik is impressed with Stepan "He's not afraid to make plays," while other
kids in 1st NHL camp might be too nervous to play their game.
Cerny also reported that head coach John Tortorella singled him, Ryan McDonagh, Tim Kennedy and Brian Boyle as players he is impressed with thus far in camp.
Why not give Stepan a shot to see what he can do? Is general manager Glen Sather, Torts and co. willing to do that? It may be difficult since there is a glut of forwards on the roster.
