Nathan Horton Proving His Worth

When the Boston Bruins picked up Nathan Horton in a trade this off-season, many hockey fans and media members were wondering which Horton they would be getting.

Were the B's getting a guy who could potentially score over 30 goals and contribute a lot of points... or were they getting someone who would play great one game and then disappear the next?

Through two games, it appears as if the B's are getting the former.

Horton has three goals and four points, and has been involved in four of the Bruins' five goals this season. The fact that he's scoring goals is a good sign; because without that, the Bruins could be in trouble as they had difficulty doing so last season. In fact, the B's were ranked dead-last in goal-scoring a year ago.

It's also a positive that Horton is putting the puck in the net because that is what he should be doing. This is is a guy that if put in the right situation, could score between 30-40 goals.

Yes, it's early on in the season but the Bruins have to be feeling good about their part of the deal in the trade that got them Horton, a former third overall pick back in 2003.

After yesterday's 3-0 shutout win over the Phoenix Coyotes, Horton was nothing but positive about his feelings regarding his new hockey club.
"I'm so happy," Horton said. "It's the best feeling to be a Boston Bruin."

Hopefully for Horton and the Bruins, the feelings will remain mutual and Horton will be a force for the team all season long.
