Games of the Night:
Ottawa Senators @ Boston Bruins
7:00 ET… TV: CBC, Local Networks

Records:
Overall: Senators (8-7-1) … Bruins (8-4-1)
Last Ten: Senators (7-3-0) … Bruins (6-3-1)
Away/Home: Senators (3-3-1) … Bruins (2-3-1)
Season Series: 1-0 Bruins

Players to watch:
OTT- Sergei Gonchar
‘Gonch’ is on a five-game point streak, including scoring in four of five.
BOS- Milan Lucic
Lucic has been consistent this year, picking up a point in all but two games.

Projected Goaltenders:
OTT- Brian Elliott (2010/11 stats: 8-4-0, 2.81 GAA)
BOS- Tim Thomas (2010/11 stats: 8-0-0, 1.39 GAA)

Injury Report:
OTT- None
BOS- David Krejci and Marc Savard (concussion, out), Johnny Boychuk (forearm, out), Marco Sturm (knee, out), Trent Whitfield (Achilles, out)

Game Thoughts:
Ottawa had their four-game win streak snapped Thursday against Vancouver, but will look to get back on track against the B’s. Claude Julien’s bunch is also looking to bounce back after getting handled by Montreal. That’s why I like them tonight, plus Thomas is 17-7-2 lifetime vs. Ottawa (and perfect this year).
Prediction: Bruins 3, Senators 1

Colorado Avalanche @ Detroit Red Wings
7:00 ET… TV: Local Networks

Records:
Overall: Avalanche (8-6-1) … Red Wings (10-3-1)
Last Ten: Avalanche (5-4-1) … Red Wings (8-2-0)
Away/Home: Avalanche (5-2-1) … Red Wings (6-1-1)
Season Series: 1-0 Avalanche

Players to watch:
COL- Matt Duchene
‘Dutchy’ needs to have a strong game for the Avs to win.
DET- Henrik Zetterberg
‘Hank’ has a point in 9 of his last 10 games, accumulating 15 points in that span.

Projected Goaltenders:
COL- Peter Budaj (2010/11 stats: 5-2-1, 2.61 GAA)
DET- Jimmy Howard (2010/11 stats: 8-1-1, 2.26 GAA)

Injury Report:
COL- Craig Anderson (knee, out), T.J. Galiardi (wrist, out), Kyle Quincey, Peter Mueller, Adam Foote and Kyle Cumiskey (concussion, out), Ryan Wilson (leg, out), David Van Der Gulik (knee, out), David Koci (jaw, out)
DET- Chris Osgood and Kris Draper (groin, out)

Game Thoughts:
If you take a look at the Avs’ injury report and factor in that this is the back half of a back-to-back, you have to favor the Wings in this one. Howard has been solid all year, while the offense is clicking. Colorado keeps it close, but not close enough.
Prediction: Red Wings 4, Avalanche 2
---
Chicago Blackhawks @ Nashville Predators
8:00 ET… TV: Local Networks

Records:Overall: Blackhawks (8-9-1) … Predators (6-5-3)
Last Ten: Blackhawks (3-7-0) … Predators (3-5-2)
Away/Home: Blackhawks (4-2-1) … Predators (2-1-3)
Season Series: 1-0 Predators

Players to watch:
CHI- Patrick Sharp
He is due after a sluggish six-game stretch (2 points, -7).
NSH- Shea Weber
With Suter back in the lineup, will Weber’s play improve?

Projected Goaltenders:
CHI- Marty Turco (2010/11 stats: 7-5-1, 2.73 GAA)
NSH- Pekka Rinne (2010/11 stats: 3-4-2, 2.86 GAA)

Injury Report:
CHI- Dave Bolland (ribs, will play)
NSH- Ryan Suter (knee, will play), Martin Erat (upper body, will play), Matthew Lombardi (concussion, out)

Game Thoughts:
Nashville got off the schnide on Thursday, but the task doesn’t get any easier as they host a desperate Chicago club tonight. Look for Suter and Erat to maybe be a little rusty, while the ‘Hawks are due for a win. I think the Preds have a great chance if Rinne is on top of his game, but he hasn’t been lately.
Prediction: Blackhawks 3, Predators 2

Lock of the Night:
Flyers over Panthers… Florida won last night and now gets to travel to Philly to take on a Flyers club hitting on all cylinders. Good luck, Panthers!

The rest of tonight’s predictions:
Capitals over Sabres
Canucks over Maple Leafs
Canadiens over Hurricanes
Penguins over Thrashers

Coyotes over Blues
Sharks over Flames
Kings over Islanders
