Game

Season series: Tied 3-3
Projected
starting goaltenders:
NJ- Martin Brodeur (Playoff stats:
4-2, 2.06 GAA)
PHI- Ilya Bryzgalov (Playoff stats:
4-2, 3.89 GAA)
Injury report:

Tallinder (leg, out)
PHI- Nicklas Grossmann and Marc-Andre Bourdon
(upper body, questionable), Chris Pronger (concussion, out), Andrej Meszaros
(back, out), Blair Betts (knee, out)
Game thoughts:
It
will be interesting to see how today’s game plays out. The Devils are two-plus days removed from
their double-overtime Game 7 win in Florida, while Philadelphia has had almost
a week off after an emotional series win against Pittsburgh.
The
key player to watch in this series is Bryzgalov. In Round 1 he struggled more than he excelled,
but he does boast good numbers against the Devils. In fact, Bryzgalov went 3-0 with a 0.29 GAA
against them this season. If he can play
like that today while his team knocks off the rust, the Flyers should be
fine. It shouldn’t take long for this
feel like a rivalry again!
Prediction: Flyers
3, Devils 2

#4 Nashville
Predators @ #3 Phoenix Coyotes
Game
2… 8:00 ET… TV: NBC Sports Network, TSN
Series: 1-0 Coyotes
Projected
starting goaltenders:
NSH- Pekka Rinne (Playoff stats: 4-2,
2.09 GAA)
PHX- Mike Smith (Playoff stats: 5-2, 1.91 GAA)
Injury report:
NSH- None
PHX- None
Game thoughts:
Friday’s
Game 1 didn’t exactly play out as most expected. Rinne and Smith combined to surrender seven
goals, although Smith was dynamite in overtime.
The Coyotes won 4-3 in dramatic fashion, playing in an NHL-record sixth
overtime in their first seven games this postseason.
With
Smith in a zone and arguably the hottest goalie in the league right now, the
Predators cannot afford to lose this game to go down 0-2. They need to play like they did in the latter
half of Game 1, in which they outshot the Coyotes 25-7 from the third period
onward. It should be another tight game
with fewer goals scored. The Predators
knot the series in this one.
Prediction: Predators
2, Coyotes 1
