Tonight’s slate:
Kings @ Coyotes, 9:00 ET, Game 5
#8 Los Angeles Kings @ #3 Phoenix Coyotes
Game 5… 9:00 ET… TV: NBC Sports Network, CBC
Series: 3-1 Kings
Players to watch:
PHX- Ray Whitney
Save from a timely assist in Game 4, Whitney has been eerily quiet. Throughout his lengthy career, the wily veteran has produced around half a point per game in the postseason, making his one assist through four games somewhat unexpected. Expect him to put together a few points before this series ends.

LA- Drew Doughty
Doughty remains an x-factor in this series. The former 2nd overall pick hasn't regained the scoring touch of his sophomore season leaving question marks as to his effectiveness. After points in four straight games, Doughty failed to produce on home ice for games three and four. Can he not only contribute offensively but also help helm a very talented blue line?
Projected starting goaltenders:
LA- Jonathan Quick (Playoff stats: 11-2, 1.46 GAA)
PHX- Mike Smith (Playoff stats: 9-6, 1.90 GAA)
Injury report:
LA- Simon Gagne (concussion, out), Scott Parse (hip, out)
PHX- None
Game thoughts:
The Kings winning this series seemed like an afterthought. They entered Sunday's matinee with an eight-game winning streak after toppling the top two seeds in only nine games. Perhaps they thought they could win Game 4 in their sleep as it became evident they came out flat. And as a hardworking, blue-collar team, Shane Doan and Mike Smith found a way to steal a game.
Does this sudden loss anger a sleeping giant in the Kings? You can bet head coach Darryl Sutter will do everything in his power to better motivate his team in order to win this series in a timely manner. The one thing they have going for them: it takes a shutout to keep them out of the win column.
Can the Kings come out flying and further their reputation as road warriors? Will the Coyotes pull out another win with their backs against the wall? This game could go either way as the 'Yotes proved they can at least match the intensity of Sutter's Kings.
