In tonight's Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, Coyotes forward Martin Hanzal picked up a major boarding penalty and game misconduct for this hit on Kings captain Dustin Brown:
Hanzal doesn't have a supplementary discipline record with the NHL, but that will change in the next few days. He deliberately shoved a vulnerable Brown into the end boards on what was a needless hit. Expect Hanzal to get a call from the league tomorrow.
Hanzal became the second Coyotes player to commit a major penalty in the game; captain Shane Doan hit Kings forward Trevor Lewis from behind in the second period. Doan's hit wasn't as vicious as Hanzal's and isn't worthy of a suspension.
As for the game, the Kings continued their dominance with a 4-0 win to take a 2-0 series lead over the Coyotes. The No. 8-seeded Kings are now 7-0 on the road this postseason. Incredible.
